Regional Medical Specialist--Southern CA

Description:Regional position that covers the major cities in Utah, Arizona, Orange County and San Diego, California.


Location:
The Regional Medical Specialist functions as a field-based member within the Medical Services department. This regional position requires up to 3 days of field travel per week with 2 days spent in a home office. The travel is within a defined geographic region, but occasionally additional travel may be necessary.
Duties:Job Duties:
The primary responsibility of the Regional Medical Specialist (RMS) is to provide education and support to two critical Myriad strategic initiatives:
1. Assist in the identification/risk assessment of patients with hereditary cancer syndromes and discuss relevant medical management options with HCPs;
2. Provide ongoing education for health care providers in order to increase access to genetic and personalized medicine tests for appropriate patients.

To accomplish these initiatives, the RMS is expected to:
• Become proficient in and demonstrate ability to understand the major data sources (clinical trials, published reports, etc.) relative to the use of Myriad’s products.
• Support the health care provider by offering clinical and scientific information that helps guide therapeutic decisions in the medical management of patients with hereditary cancer syndromes.
• Deliver clinical and scientific presentations to healthcare practitioners and community groups.
• Work collaboratively with sales and marketing department to create and implement educational strategies for key clients.
• Assist in the development of key opinion leaders as potential speakers/collaborators for Myriad.
• Collaborate with clients and thought leaders on a national, regional and local level to develop clinical therapeutic concepts that support medical research associated with new and existing products.
• Collect and report market intelligence within company guidelines.
• Manage time and travel expense budget for clinical education activities within dedicated regions.
• Provide Medical Services Clinical Research team with recommendations on investigator and site selection for future trials.
• Interact with the other departments within Myriad (ie marketing, managed care) to supply clinical content and support for future growth.
Qualifications:Minimum Requirements:
Board Certified/Board Eligible genetic counselor or licensed RN (minimum BSN ), OCN or ARNP with hereditary cancer risk assessment experience. The candidate must have excellent communication (written and oral) skills, be willing to travel within a defined geographic region, and work well independently. Additionally, the candidate must have at least one year of post-graduate clinical experience.


Preferred Skills:
Experience with hereditary cancer risk assessment in the clinical setting is strongly desired.
